Diesel air heater
The Air Heater type controls the common Bluetooth diesel air heaters — the kind sold under Vevor, Sunster, and many other names, whose Bluetooth name usually contains "BYD". The heater card shows cabin temperature, the running state, supply voltage, and the current level, with full control.
Hcalory-brand heaters use a different protocol and are not supported by this device type.
Adding one
The heater appears in Discovered nearby on the Devices page — tap Add. Or add it manually with its MAC address. No key needed. It uses a Bluetooth connection, so it counts against the Bluetooth connection limit, and the heater's own phone app can't be connected at the same time.
Controls on the heater card
- On/Off — starts and stops the heater. Diesel heaters run a cooldown cycle after being switched off; the status text follows it.
- Mode — Level or Auto:
- In Level mode you set the burner strength directly with the ten level segments (1–10).
- In Auto mode you set a target cabin temperature with the − and + buttons (8–36 °C) and the heater manages itself.
- The status line shows what the heater reports (ignition, running, cooldown, errors), and the running dot lights while the burner is active.
Changes can take a couple of seconds to reflect back — the heater is polled, not instant.
Problems?
- Card frozen or heater not reacting → close the heater's phone app if it's open, then see A device stopped updating.
- An error code on the card comes from the heater itself — check fuel, power, and the heater manual's error table.
